Hot Tools Professional 1 1/4″ Salon Curling Iron Review

I got this hair curler from my hair stylist, Michelle. She gave it to me as a gift because she found out that I don’t own a hair curler. Lol, what she doesn’t know is that I also don’t own a hair blow dryer, but I won’t bring that up.

Hehe, I secretly love getting gifts wp-monalisa icon

Anyways, so today I am going to share with you this awesome hair curler that I got. This is the Hot Tools Professional 1110 Curling Iron with Multi-Heat Control, Mega 1-1/4″ (Amazon ~$30).

This curling iron really gets the job done. Especially for the price, you can’t get a better deal than this. I mean, common, check out the reviews on Amazon! 500+ reviews and almost a perfect 5 stars! Wow!

Inside of the box came the curling iron (of course), a manuel (duh), and an extra spring for the clamp!

The hair curling iron size is 1 and 1/4 inch. I think it is the perfect size to do beautiful bouncy long curls. I personally don’t like when curls are too small and tight, but rather loose and somewhat “natural” looking.. and this curling iron does just that! But if you really wanted to, you can create small or very large curls with this.

The barrel is 24K gold-plated with an extra-long cool tip so you don’t have to accidentally poke and burn yourself. Gold plated is good because it is usually cheaper, able to heat evenly, and also decreases the risk in overheating. But if you are looking for the best, it’s not gold, it’s ceramic plating! Gold is however better than chrome-plated irons. With any type of curling iron, no matter what it’s plated with, you should be careful not to over use it and damage your hair.

Btw, here is where the spring is located in case you need to switch it out. I can’t imagine ever having to switch it out though… The clamp is very strong and it will really grab your hair tight.

There is a separate on and off switch so that you can leave the curling iron set at your ideal temperature.

It is 85 watts and heats up very quickly, from 280-430 degrees fahrenheit.  It is great for all hair types since the temperature can be set really low for fragile hairs or really high for thick hair. My hair is pretty thin and I don’t want to damage it more so I use it on the lowest setting.

The handle is soft to the touch (kinda feels velvety but not really, if ya know what I mean?) and there is an 8 feet swivel cord for easy maneuver.

Before curling your hair, make sure you spray on a heat protector so that you don’t burn your hair to a crisp! I notice a big difference between the times that I have used a heat protector from the times that I have not, so I highly recommend it!

  • My hair stays curled for a long time
  • The heat is evenly spread throughout the curling iron
  • I love and hate that the cord swivels, lol
  • Easy to make tight curls or big loose curls
  • I recommend this curler if you don’t already own one or aren’t sure which to get for cheap~
