To expand on my last blog post reviewing Estée Lauder’s Pore Minimizing product, I am going to share with all of you 5 easy ways to clear your pores. Let’s begin!
Before you use any one of these five methods, you need to always wash your face with warm water first so that your pores open up!! The best way to have clean and tight pores is to perform a combination of these 5 steps, or switch it up day to day.
1. Pore Minimizing Products
Pore minimizing products are a must. You can clean your pores all you want, but if you don’t use a pore minimizing product, your pores will just continue to fill with dirt. Pick the right pore minimizer for you. There are lots of different brands that offer pore minimizer products. Find one that is in your budget and one that has other added benefits that you prefer. Make sure to use your pore minimizer daily after you have washed your face or performed one of the other four methods below.
2. Facial Brush
Another effective method for cleaning out your pores is to incorporate using a facial brush during your daily face wash routine. The iPhone in the photo above is just for you to get an idea of the facial brush size. While washing your face with warm water and your favorite face wash, make sure to wet the facial brush and bring your brush to a lather with your face wash. Scrub your face in a circular motion. Usually I will use the facial brush on my entire face to help exfoliate the skin, but I will brush a little longer around my nose to make sure that my pores get cleaned out. After using the facial brush once a day for about a week, you will notice that your black heads are going away.
3. Pore Cleaning Tool
This tool works better for some than it does for others. Depending on the amount of gunk that you have and the size of your pores, will determine how well this product works for you. In order to use this tool, your pores must be opened (using warm water). You can use either end to press down on parts of your nose and around pores that you want to clean. Essentially, it will pinch your pore to help squeeze out the nasty. A downside to this product is that you can really cause some damage to your skin. Don’t over do it and use this tool too heavily at one time. Only use it sparingly to save the surface of your skin.
4. Pore Strips
The first time I used pore strips, they didn’t work for me. Actually, they didn’t work for me for the first couple of boxes that I bought. I’ve tried all different pore strip brands, and honestly, they are all about the same. Oh but what changed? They work amazingly for me now, and using pore strips about once every 2 weeks has become my routine. They have proved to be a great tool for removing my white heads. I find that I get the best results with pore strips if I gently squeeze my nose so that the white heads begin popping out of the pores a little and then apply the strip as directed on the box. I think part of the reason why it works so well for me now though, is because I’ve been really messing with my pores a lot lately and now finally have some stuff that can come out. I kinda have a conspiracy theory that all of these pore products are just a scam to get you to keep buying them when all they do is just worsening the current state of your pores (hopefully this is not true and I’m just crazy).
5. Tweezer
Another great method to removing black or white heads is to do it manually. This method, like the pore cleaning tool, can also lead to the destruction of your nose. But when done properly, it can be safe. All you need to do is gently squeeze your nose (while your pores are open) and then you can begin plucking each pore one at a time. This is a lot of work, but I feel that if you get a good hold of the black/white head, you can pull it out in it’s entirety and there is no damage done whatsoever. You won’t be able to clean out all of your pores, but you will be able to get at least some of the big ones. I find that this method works best when done after you have used a pore strip since the pore strip seems to harden the black/white heads and makes it extremely easy to tweeze out.
Anyways, I got a new ring flash for my SLR camera. I only paid about $20-25 for it from Amazon. Here’s a test where I used the flash on my dog Dumpling. I’m not really sure how I feel about the flash, but it seems okay for now. I’ll have to play with it a little more in the future.
Have a good day!!
xoxo Sarah

thanks ania!! 😀
Does that BIORE pore strips really work seriously? :-O
I bought last summer during the time in China and used like..the whole packet but I didn’t show me any results…….:-(
im not sure if you read what i wrote. but yea~ the first several BOXES that i’ve bought, have not worked for me. but that was years ago. I think i’ve been messing with my pores too much (incorrectly), and have been thus enlarging them.
if these pore strips don’t work for you, you probably don’t have pores that are big enough or as big of a pore problem as you might think you have. i would recommend you to not waste your money on buying pore strips if it doesn’t work and find another way to clean them out that doesn’t damage your nose.
let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks for the tips!! I think i’m going to invest in a pore brush. Hehe, I really shouldn’t be so lazy with my skincare routine! I’m using the clinique 3 step but sometimes even doing 2 steps is too much. Oh dear! ><
thats great to hear! it’s good to invest some time into your skin 🙂
how do you like the clinique 3 step? i wrote a review on it a long while back, and didn’t really like it.
it made me break out and totally dried out my skin =/

good tip! thats something that i probably should have tried mentioning. hahaha, theres just so much that you can write about skin!! >.< i usually wash my face with warm water first to open up my pores and then use a face wash.. and then rinse again with cold water to close up the pores again before putting on make up and what not 😀
