Recently, I purchased the Bobbi Brown Luminous Moisturizing Treatment Foundation to replace my empty DiorSkin Forever. Up until now, I would say that Dior has been the best foundation that I’ve used so far due to the coverage. However, like all foundations that I’ve owned in the past, it doesn’t have skin benefits and I’m afraid that long term use may have negative effects.
I used to feel really guilty covering up my skin day-to-day with a layer of foundation, as I understand the importance of allowing your skin to breath. This is why I decided to try out Bobbi Brown’s latest liquid foundation, which is a foundation with skin benefits! I bought this from my local Macy’s for about ~$52.
I’ve never owned any Bobbi Brown products, but I remember my sister-in-law telling me that this is the brand that was used on her back in her modeling days. So I guess it has to be somewhat good if she was labeled in Vogue’s top 10 most beautiful women in China?
Bobbi Brown Luminous Moisturizing Treatment Foundation claims and benefits:
- Light Reflective Technology – gives skin natural luminosity
- Skin looks radiant, plumped and moisturized
- Flawless wear that doesn’t look cakey or dry (even on dry skin)
- Boosts skin’s moisture immediately and long-term
- Visibly lift and firm for suppler, smoother skin
According to Bobbi Brown’s Reviews:
- 92% say their skin looked more luminous
- 87% agreed their skin felt healthier
- 80% thought their skin looked firmer
My Thoughts: I’d have to say that I really agree with all of these claims, said benefits, and reviews. When I wear the foundation, my skin appears as if it is glowing — and when I say glowing, I mean it looks like it’s glowing from beneath the skin’s surface! The coverage isn’t as great as other foundations, but in all honesty, it’s enough. You can still get the flawless skin that you crave with a little use of spot coverup in addition to the foundation. But what’s most important to be said about Bobbi Brown’s Luminous Moisturizing Treatment is that your skin feels healthy after using it. After washing my face, I can see that my skin looks and feels healthier. In addition, if you get dry skin like I do during the winter, you must try out this product!
The Luminous Moisturizing Treatment Foundation sports a traditional push pump to extract the liquid makeup.
Unlike some high end brand liquid foundations that have tops that don’t screw off, this one does! Thank goodness for that. I’m one of those girls who wait till last minute before buying a new foundation, so when I’m out, I’m really out!
Another excellent plus about this foundation is that it comes in a wide spectrum of shades. You don’t just have 18 colors to choose from, but also shades to match warmer or cooler skin tones.
That’s one problem that I’ve always had with BB and CC creams. They may have skin benefits, but they definitely don’t typically have the wide range of shades! But with the Bobbi Brown Luminous Moisturizing Treatment Foundation, you can get both the skin benefits and not look like a ghost!
Not until recently, I used to apply all foundations with my fingers. But I have finally decided to make use of some makeup brushes that I received from a good friend last Christmas! (lol, the only reason I never used them was because I wanted to do a review on them, but never got around to doing so… yes I fail x)
The color foundation that I got was Sand 2 (pictured above), before that I had Sand 2.5 which was too warm for my skin. I ended up returning the Sand 2.5 for Sand 2.
Here are some Before and Afters…
Above, you can see how most of my nose pores are drastically covered.
Below is a comparison of my cheek with and without the foundation. As you can notice, it doesn’t really erase entirely all of my acne scars and redness, but it is greatly reduced. I would say that this foundation has medium coverage. You may be able to build a little, but I don’t think too much since it’s very sheer and more on the moisturizing side.
One thing I want to note is that these photos of close ups on my skin. In real life, my face looks pretty darn good!
