Spontaneous Day at Abalone Cove, California

When the weather is nice, it’s great to go out and enjoy it! On Sunday, my boyfriend and I decided to head over to Long Beach to go to an arcade that we went to last New Year’s Eve to spend our tickets that we won from playing games. On the drive over, I had an idea… tide pools!! So I quickly searched on my phone for the nearest tide pool on the way to Long Beach and ended up discovering Abalone Cove.

Abalone Cove was such a beautiful beach. The water and shore looked so very nice.

The parking cost $5, which is pretty reasonable for what you get. They also give you a map of the beach.

We followed the map to figure out how to get to the tide pools. It was a little bit of a treck, but it was fun. We had to walk through some dirt trails and through this little canyon area that I am posing for.

Once you get past all of the trails and out onto the beach, there are thousands and thousands of rocks instead of your typical sand on this part of the beach.

The rocks were all super smooth and all different sorts of shapes and sizes.

Once we got to the end of the beach, we had to hug the side of the mountain and climb our way around to the hidden (or not so hidden) tide pools. It was a bit of a high tide during the time that I arrived, which made it harder to get to the tide pools, but also more fun to get to.. depending on how you like to look at it.

After climbing around the side of the mountain, we found a beautiful little spot. Too bad we didn’t have our swim suits with us, so we didn’t get to explore. Much of the area was covered with water and required for you to get wet or swim across to the other parts. Maybe next time we will go back better prepared because it looks like AWESOME FUN!

After exploring the tide pools, we walked back and found a place to sit on the edge of a cliff and just enjoyed the view and talked. It was good bonding time.

Earlier that day we had some bomb mexican nachos that I want to show you and let you drool over.

For dinner we ate at Hooters.. never going there again for wings, it sucked! But here’s a delicious mixed drink that I got from the arcade’s bar. Now this was delicious.

Anyways, stay cool in the hot summer heat!! I’ll see you again soon, hopefully. (sorry for the lack of posts this last week.. I’m preparing for my birthday in Vegas this weekend!!)

xoxo
