According to Chinese superstition, if you are born the year of the dragon, 2012 was supposed to be a bad year for you (since 2012 was the year of the dragon, again). I don’t think last year was that bad for me… just a big car accident (my first), the worst thing that could ever happen (I won’t go into detail because it’s personal), and a few parking tickets… but that’s it! So not too bad
Twenty-twelve has come and gone, and now we are already four days into the new year. I hope that 2013 be another great year to remember and that it won’t go by in another blink of the eye, lol.
Let’s now have a look at New Year’s Eve! Instead of going out to celebrate as usual, I decided to stay in and have a house party instead! We borrowed one of my brother’s houses to use to bring in the new year. Below is what I wore. Do you like my NYE decorations? You can see some of them in the photos, they were such a pain to put up but they look nice at least!
We started with a potluck dinner at 7:00 pm. There was soooo much food (kbbq, hot wings, chili, chocolate fondue fountain, sushi, lamb, and about 20+ more dishes)!!
Here are some of the girls from the party. We actually had about 30 people who showed up for our NYE house party celebration.
The rest of the night we played lots of drinking games (rage cage, beer pong, pool table, darts, cards, etc.). We had a full bar and tons of beer. I think everyone got a decent buzz on by the end of the night.
I think we were supposed to play beer pong together, but I ended up wandering off somewhere else.. lol. I’m assuming they did well without me though!

Thirty-minutes before midnight, we prepared the lanterns. One of our friend’s Josh provided us with 20 beautiful Chinese lanterns.
Each of us wrote our wishes for 2013 on one of the 20 lanterns.
HAha~ I got excited since it was almost NYE, so I started being annoying and tooting over and over with my little noise maker. I got super into it and started making a beat with it.
Now we are all outside with our lanterns. I’m still tooting away, btw. First you light the lantern, then hold it up until it is full with hot air, and away it floats!
What a beautiful sight it was… Seeing all of our wishes float up into the night sky slowly. It was that kind of feeling of a mother bird seeing her baby fly for the first time.
We began our count down as we let the last couple of lanterns go.. 10.. 9.. 8.. 7.. 6.. 5.. 4.. 3.. 2.. 1… HAPPY NEW YEAR!! I don’t know who in our group was paying attention to the time, but good job! Spot on with the count down. We were so loud outside in the backyard, but it was seriously so much fun and definitely a night to remember.

Towards the end of the night, a few people probably had a bit too much to drink. That made me happy. Nothing worse than having a party where people aren’t knocked out.
