Hello~
Today I’m excited to share with you my new FreshLook Illuminate One-Day Color Contact Lenses.
These lenses were sponsored by KLensPop.com. If you aren’t familiar with them, KLensPop is an online store that sells only 100% authentic Korean circle lenses at affordable prices.
Here’s what I got in my shipment:
- 2 FreshLook Illuminate boxes
- DL Plus+ Eyedrops
- 2 contact lens cases
- mini circle lens tweezer
Each box comes with 30 lenses (15 pairs), all with the same power. Since each of my eyes have a different prescription power, I had to get two separate boxes. The price for 1 box is $25.00.
Now taking a closer look at one of the boxes, you can see that it separates into 3 smaller boxes. Each one of these smaller boxes has 10 lenses (5 pairs).
***Also note that the expiration date for my lenses are more than 3 years from now. This is awesome because I don’t plan on using these everyday, but only for when I go on weekend vacations and trips.
Inside of the smaller box, we find the contact lenses.
As you can see, each lens is individually wrapped in a liquid filled plastic container.
The FreshLook Illuminate contact lenses are available in two different colors: Rich Brown and Jet Black
I ended up getting Rich Brown because I wanted a color contact lens that would enhance my natural eye color.
According to the product description:
FreshLook Illuminate is an eye-enhancing, daily disposable contact lens specially designed for Asian eyes to make eyes look naturally bigger. At the end of the day – more beautiful eyes, effortlessly! Unique starburst pattern blends the coloured ring into the iris of the eyes to make eyes naturally bigger and more beautiful. Special dual-layer colour printing technology that enhances all shades of Asian eyes. The colour of the lens interacts with light to “adapt” to the shade of the wearer’s eye for a natural look.
In case you’re interested, this is the Korean commercial for FreshLook Illuminate:
Here’s what the lens looks like after opening them up and placing them in my contact case.
To me, these lens don’t look very brown at all. I would describe it as more of a super dark chocolate kinda brown.
The diameter isn’t very large either, it’s only 13.8mm. Most enlarging circle lens are about 14.5-15.0mm. Your average clear contact lens are normally 14.0mm. So with 13.8mm, don’t expect to have that dolly eyed look that you get with circle lenses.
If you want a lens that looks natural, this is for you.
If you want convenience, this is for you.
If you want the healthiest color contacts for your eyes, this is for you.
… But if you are looking for a dramatic effect for your eyes, look elsewhere.
Before popping the contact lens into my eyes, I applied a couple drops of the DL Plus+ Eye Drops onto my lens for extra comfort. There was no stinging and my eyes happily accepted the contacts with no trouble or redness at all!
The photo below is to demonstrate the before and after of these contact lens.
The diameter of my iris is actually a bit smaller than average. The enlarging effect is quite minimal using these lens and I’m afraid that on other people it might be barely noticeable.
One thing I do like is that it really defines the edges of my iris. Instead of the fuzziness that you see on the left eye, the right eye has a really nice crisp look that looks really nice with eye makeup.
I’ve also taken a few more photos for you to get an idea of how these contact lens look under different lighting.
The only thing is that you can’t really see much of a difference at all! The color of these lens are really minimal and blend in super naturally with my eyes. Your average male would not be able to tell that you’re even wearing colored contacts. This is really great if you strive for that natural look or work in a professional environment.
One last look at an even larger close up of my eye! OMG yes I know it’s so big that it’s a bit scary.
But now that you can see the contact lens on my eye close up, you can also sort of see the detail on the edges. It is really quite beautiful if you are able to look closely enough. But once again, to me, this color looks like it is black!
I wore these lens all day without any issues. They were super comfortable and I didn’t notice them at all! A lot of my other circle lens give me red eyes, but this one strangely did not.
The only thing is that you need to be careful with these lens. They are super thin! I don’t think this has ever happened to me where a lens has ripped apart as I removed it from my eye. Maybe my nails are too long? I’m assuming that the daily disposable lens are more fragile since they are meant to be tossed in the trash after use.
Before I end this post, let me give you a few bullet points it sum up my thoughts on these contacts:
- I got these for the convenience of not having to deal with solution and contact cases when I travel
- These are much healthier for your eyes than your average circle lens
- You can look beautiful and natural with these lens
- The price is reasonable, assuming that you don’t plan on wearing these 365 days a year
- The color could be more brown, but still looks nice in person and up close
- Enlarging effect is very minimal
- Super comfortable lens that you can wear from morning to late night

I’ve been using 1-day Acuvue Define and they are 14.2mm I believe. Although I still don’t see a big enlargement they are suuuper comfy! But yours look pretty big too for 13.8mm! They carry 3 designs you should check them out 🙂 they won’t rip either haha
ooOo ok thanks for the tip! i’ll check out acuvue next time. sounds a lot better size and design wise too 😀
these look really nice 🙂 it’s great that they are one-day lenses, seems much more hygienic and clean

Hey Rachel, it’s great and all that you’re stopping by my blog… but it’s sort of upsetting because you’ve already asked me to follow you in the past, and I have because I liked your blog… and i’m STILL following you. obviously you don’t pay attention to details and you’re too concerned with gaining followers.
What a gorgeous color contacts! It looks very natural.
thank you! it’s ultra natural, no joke. after i put both of them on and looked in the mirror, i wasnt sure that i was wearing anything. hahahaha. it looks nice though. very subtle and pretty.

hahaha aww no!! my eyes really aren’t that pretty i think. i’m always envious of other people’s eyes, so ur making me blush by saying that. you should really check out these lens! i think they are much much much more comfortable than normal circle lens. try these ones or the ones that another blogger recommended, acuvue!
hi, may I know the natural diameter of your iris? tHANks!
hmm… lol. haven’t been asked this before. i’m not sure how i should go about measuring the natural diameter of my iris. not sure how to accurately help you.
Hi Sarah, in my prescription i got the DIA of 14.00, do you think these Freshlook illuminate contacts fit me? Do you mind if i ask what is your DIA? Thanks
hey Hannah! the diameter (aka DIA) is just the size of the lens, and has nothing to do with the base curve. most likely, these lens should fit you and you should have no trouble at all. i typically wear lens diameters ranging from 14-15. it’s all just a preference of how large you want your iris to appear. let me know if you have any other questions, hun! <3
Thanks for your answer, i actually want to have bigger iris too, but not too big, not kind of doll eyes, just a little bit bigger (like 14.2 works fine for me). hmm, so hard to decide 🙁
I think 14.2 or 14.5 would probably be good if you don’t want it to look too big. 15 can sometimes look way too huge if you don’t do the correct makeup to match it.
Hi Sarah,
So, I’m pretty new to the whole circle lens/colored contacts thing though I’ve been wearing normal lenses for awhile now. But I’ve been really getting into circle lens and purchased my first two types–my first time, I bought one pair of those toric circle lens, but I began to realize they were a bit uncomfortable when I wore them for more than about 4 hours and they also looked too “dolly” for me since I want a more natural subtle look. So I tried buying Acuvue’s Define Natural Shine and Vivid next. The super thinness and diameter, etc was all perfect. I liked how it looked natural on my eyes, but OMG, one super annoying problem arose: the BC. I read your review on the Acuvue post saying how Acuvue’s NS kept shifting around in your eyes, right? 🙁 The same went for me. Everything else was great except for the fact that I could only look straight and every time I try to look a little to the left, right, up, or down, it hurts my eyes due to its shifting… Bummer 🙁 I have astigmatism so maybe it’s because of that? I don’t know what to do.. I really like the look and the comfort level of Acuvue but it keeps moving around. You mentioned that Freshlook Illuminate doesn’t do that…? Do you think that’ll be true for me too? 🙁 I’m afraid to waste money on something that won’t fit me again… I am up for trying Freshlook, but if you can give me your awesome two cents, I’d be sooo grateful! 🙂 Also, would you prefer Brown over Black?
Thanks so much, and by the way, you are SO pretty >_<* gahhh…!
Jennieee
Hi jennie! Ahhh im sorry you had so much trouble with lenses! First off, I noticed that the acuvue lens vary each time I wear them. When its feeling uncomfortable, try taking them out and flipping it inside out. But be very careful as the lens are very fragile! I’m usually super good with being able to tell when a lens is flipped the wrong way, but with Acuvue I find it very very difficult. I prefer the Freshlook lens because I dont have this problem and the price is cheaper 🙂 anyways I have an astigmatism too, but I dont *think* it should effect the lens too much… I would suggest giving ur acuvue lens another try and if it still doesnt work out, u can try freshlook. Btw, if you want natural, brown is always better. Black is nice too if you sport a super clean look with black eyeliner, light skin, dark hair… I think its cute. Let me know if u have more questions! 😀
I wear contact lenses everyday and I use freshlook (pure hazel) which I replace monthly. I wish these Illuminate contact lenses can be used for a whole month as well so it’s not so pricey!
ahh yea monthly sounds much cheaper! thanks for sharing what you wear 🙂
Also I’d like to know, what do you think of Geolica contact lenses? 🙂 It’s the only doll eyes brand of contacts available here that can be graded. 🙁 I really want doll eyes contacts that look natural! Geolica has so many kinds to choose from, and I don’t know which one would achieve the natural look I want.
P.S. Is circle lens same as doll eyes?? Hahaha sorry I’m a bit confused!
hmm… so I looked up Geolica…
“GEOLICA is the exclusive contact lens brand in the Philippines market under GEO Medical Contact Lens Inc.” (http://www.geolica.com.ph/about-us.html)
Geo Medical is probably the most well known circle lens company in the world, and is also known for their top quality products. All of the Geo lens that I’ve owned have been excellent and are very comfortable.
If you want a dolly eyed look, I would go with Geolica’s Holicat or Mimi Cafe series. I haven’t tried these, so I can’t really give you much advice, except to tell you to look up reviews for the ones you are interested in.
Also, to help clear up any confusion you may have…
– there are many different categories of contact lens (1-day, clear, colored, circle, toric, etc.) these categories can really be broken down in so many different ways
– circle lens is a type of contacts that refers to lens usually from Korea, that specialize in enlarging the iris (this is why you hear doll eyes sometimes)
Let me know if you have any other questions!
